Design Statement

Design should combine form and function in a manner that most accurately and creatively resolves the issues set forth in the design's goals.

The manner in which I go about that is subject to all the usual variables: Client needs, budget, deadline, and so on. So my design ethic becomes a problem-solving one. I seek to solve all of these problems in a balanced manner that results in an attractive and effective design artifact.

My creative process echoes the mentality of using the right tool for the right job. I learned the advantages that come with branching out and trying new mediums and methods early on. As a result I draw on traditional media skills as often as digital skills for my work. My strengths lie with the digital aspect and my body of work reflects that.

Biography

I have been fixated with observing the world around me since I was very young. By way of understanding that world, I started to categorize everything: The static surroundings were the natural objects and landscapes that did not change. The dynamic were people and other objects that changed by their very nature. The artificial were the objects that were imposed upon the static surroundings by man. By observing all this I would draw my own conclusions about the world, whether or not they fell into societal norms.

Before long I became fascinated by the complex relationships between the static, dynamic, and artificial. The most interesting thing to me was how simple conclusions would be drawn from complex relationships. By the time I was a teenager I had all of this knowledge and nothing to do with it until I realized I could effect the artificial. Graphic design became my portal to the artificial. Through graphic design I became increasingly attracted to personal explorations of the artificial by creating pieces of art.

I've been addicted ever since.
